DIVE CARDS

IN PROGRESS

A tap-to-pay card vending machine that spits out a random illustrated card. Rare pulls, foils, numbered editions — chance mechanics built in.

Overview

Think trimmed-down Voltar — minimal, mechanical, satisfying. Tap to pay, get a card. You don't know which one. That's the whole game.

Each card illustrated by a proper artist. Common cards, rare pulls, foils, numbered editions. Collab with an illustrator for the first set. Planning multiple themed sets down the line.

Prototype

Building the mechanism first — card dispensing, tap-to-pay integration — before worrying about the shell. Documenting as I go.

Version 1 Plan

Version 1 gets a screen and an app interface. The screen shows the current set, remaining stock count, and the dispense animation. The app loads new card sets into the system remotely — want to swap sets without touching the hardware.

Shell Design

Folded metal box shell. Clean edges, minimal branding, satisfying weight. The process:

  • Cardboard prototype — get proportions right, test mechanism fit
  • Colour and decals on the prototype — find the visual language
  • Final version in folded metal, fabricated from the proven template
